Special Delivery

During the summer of 2012/13 Pete Goss and Andy Warrender travelled all the way from the UK to kayak around Tasmania. They consulted a number of local paddlers including Matt Watton and myself for local information. They both recorded their circumnavigation on their blogs - Pete's here, Andy's here.  Matt caught up the Pete and Andy while they were in Tasmania but frustratingly I was too busy at the time to do the same.

With our planned trip to Ireland and Scotland a tentative arrangement was made that we would meet Andy in Easdale, Scotland. If we managed to get that far.

When we reached Scotland, we emailed Andy to see if he was available, he was, just. Given the glorious weather the West Coast was experiencing at the time he had just been paddling around the Garvellachs and Colonsay and was about to head south so we were likely to miss him by the time we reached Easdale.

No problem says Andy I'll come down in the RIB to meet you and sure enough he did even though it was a 3 hour round trip. We had only just left Craighouse on Jura when Andy arrived at speed bearing gifts perfect for weary kayakers too

Andy all rugged up for his trip down from Easdale.

Gifts from heaven! Beer, Scottish cheese and shortbread. Fantastic!

"What shall we do with the drunken sailor?" Were else to store the beer but in the bilges.

Alan looking very happy with the prospect of a beer at the end of the day.

The end of the day.

Thanks Andy, your special delivery really added to our wonderful few days around Jura and the Garvellachs.
