Back in WA - Deception Pass

The four days and five nights on the ferry from Whittier went remarkably quickly. Tuesday evening we called in to Yakutat so we able to get ashore and stretch our legs. Wednesday afternoon we were back in Juneau and met up with Rory and Jan for coffee, then Thursday afternoon back in Ketchikan and buying a few supplies for our paddle back from Bellingham to Marrowstone Is.

The ferry docked about 7.00am and we in the water and paddling about 8.30. Crikey, not surprising really but what a difference in temperature! Sandals, shorts and a lightweight thermal.

Cruisey day paddling south past Anacortes to Deception Pass State Park and a very comfy private little Cascadia Marine Trail campsite. These sites, and there are many dotted around Puget Sound, are only for use by those travelling using human powered craft.

It's a hot Saturday afternoon and the Park is BUSY, there's more people here in one place than we have seen in two months!

That little red arrow in the Pass itself indicates the tidal flow, flooding at 5knots there at the moment!
